Recreational Program

If your dancer is looking to dance for fun, fitness, and skill-building in a positive, supportive environment, our Recreational Program is the perfect fit!

  • Weekly classes, learning basic techniques

  • Perform in the Year-End Recital

  • Primary, Novice, and Junior Ballet classes perform in the annual Nutcracker

Performance Team Program

For dancers seeking a more serious and committed experience:

  • Advanced technical training, conditioning, and exams

  • 3–4 Vancouver Island dance competitions

  • Opportunities for solo work and lead Nutcracker roles

  • Various performance and training opportunities

Note:
Performance Team dancers must enroll in all mandatory classes.
A serious team commitment is required.

Program Descriptions

PRESCHOOL DANCE

Our Preschool Dance Program offers a joyful introduction to dance for children aged 3–4.
Designed to nurture creativity and confidence, this program blends ballet and jazz exercises to establish a strong technical foundation in a playful and supportive environment.
Through imaginative activities, rhythm games, and gentle movement, children build coordination, balance, and a lifelong love of dance.

PRE-PRIMARY and PRIMARY

Recommended for ages 5–7 and perfect for dancers in their first years of dance.
Students build basic technique and artistry in a fun and supportive atmosphere.
Primary Ballet students participate in both our Nutcracker production and our year-end recital.

NOVICE

For dancers aged 7–9:

  • Recreational Option: 1 weekly ballet class and/or the Jazz class

  • Performance Team Option: 2 weekly ballet classes + Novice Jazz Choreo Class

Novice Ballet students perform in the Nutcracker.
All Novice dancers perform in the year-end recital at the Tidemark Theatre.

JUNIOR PROGRAM

Competitive program for dancers aged 10+.
Students must take:

  • 2 weekly ballet classes

  • 1 jazz class

  • Optional additional classes for preparation

Junior dancers participate in:

  • Ballet Exams

  • North Island Festival of Performing Arts

  • Up to 2 additional island dance competitions

  • Nutcracker Touring Company (by audition)

INTERMEDIATE AND SENIOR PROGRAMS

For dedicated dancers ready for intensive training aged 11+:

  • Full program enrollment required

  • Participation in Ballet exams, competitions, workshops, and performances

  • Nutcracker Touring Company auditions available

  • Solo and small group choreography opportunities

Dancers must prioritize their studio classes and fully commit to the competitive team environment.

TWEEN, TEEN AND ADULT
RECREATIONAL CLASSES

For dancers who want to enjoy dance for fun and fitness!
A great introduction to various dance styles and basic techniques.
All recreational dancers perform at the year-end recital.
