Dancer Attire Guidelines

Dress Code

Proper dance attire helps dancers move safely, allows instructors to see correct body alignment, and creates a professional classroom environment.

Hair Requirements

Hair must be neatly secured for every class.

• Ballet: Hair must be in a secure ballet bun using elastics and hairpins.

• Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Modern & Hip Hop: Hair must be tidy and securely pulled away from the face.

• Preschool: A ponytail or pigtails are acceptable. A ballet bun is not required.

Preschool

Ballet/Tap Combo or Ballet/Jazz Combo

Required

• Solid-colour bodysuit (any style)

• Ballet pink tights

• Pink ballet slippers - leather or canvas

• Black ballet slippers for boys - leather or canvas

• Black tap shoes (Tap Combo classes only)

Optional

• Full-circle or wrap ballet skirt

Please note: Tan recital tights may be required for performances.

Pre-Primary • Primary• Novice • Emergent • Tween • Teen

Ballet

Required

• Solid-colour bodysuit (any style)

• Ballet pink tights

• Pink ballet slippers - leather or canvas

• Black ballet slippers for boys - leather or canvas

• Fitted white T-shirt

Jazz

• Tan dance tights

• Black slip-on jazz shoes

Tap

Wear the same attire as Jazz.

Shoes

• Primary & Novice: Black patent tap shoes

• Emergent, Tween & Teen: Black lace-up tap shoes

Lyrical • Contemporary • Modern

Required

• Tan convertible tights

• Half soles (Lyrical classes)

Junior • Intermediate • Senior • Advanced

Ballet

• Convertible ballet tights

• Canvas split-sole ballet slippers (black ballet slippers for boys)

Boys' Ballet Attire

• Fitted white T-shirt

Jazz

Required

• Solid-colour bodysuit (any style)

• Convertible tan tights

• Tan canvas jazz shoes

Optional

• Black shorts or leggings

Tap

Wear the same attire as Jazz.

Required

• Black lace-up tap shoes

Lyrical • Contemporary • Modern

Required

• Solid-colour bodysuit

• Capri tan tights or bare legs

Footwear

• Lyrical: Half soles

• Modern: Bare feet

Optional

• Shorts or leggings

Hip Hop (All Levels)

Required

• Comfortable athletic clothing that allows for movement

• Clean, indoor-only white sneakers

Performance Team

Performance Team dancers require additional attire throughout the season.

Required

• Thin-strap black bodysuit

• Second Skin undergarment for costumes

• Team logo apparel (ordered at the beginning of the season)

Additional Requirements

• Black and tan jazz shoes

• Half sole lyrical shoes

• Additional team apparel or accessories may be requested throughout the year.

PBT (Progressing Ballet Technique), Pre-Pointe & Conditioning

Students enrolled in PBT or Conditioning classes will need:

• 9-foot medium-strength resistance band

• Tennis ball

• Lacrosse ball

• Yoga Block
